Matthew 6:19-21 – “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal; but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
The fast we are asked to choose is one which looks deeply at the needs of our neighbors. It is fast aimed at justice for all rather than denial of self. It is a fast that pierces the dark places of our world. It is a fast that places priorities in the right order.
Prayer
Gracious and merciful God, the fast I choose requires your lead. Take my hand. AMEN.
