Pain No Child Should Ever Know

For the past 18 months, Samuel has been living with pain in his eyes. His mother, Wubit, told us, “Both of his eyes are closed by whitish fluid. They water and become red... We do not understand what happened to him.”

Samuel is suffering from the beginning stages of blinding trachoma – something his family had never heard of before. Without treatment, Samuel will face even more pain until he goes completely, permanently blind.

Today, you can protect a child like Samuel from needless pain and blindness. Your gift will give sight-saving care to help stop blinding trachoma in a child’s life.

And right now, your gift goes even further. Thanks to generous partners and donated medication, every $1 you give today multiplies to $4 worth of sight-saving care. That’s 4X the healing, 4X the hope!

How Trachoma Spreads and Blinds

Blinding trachoma spreads through personal contact. Children are most at risk.

Flies are drawn to the secretion from eyes and transmit the infection from person to person.

Trachoma begins with itchy, teary, uncomfortable eyes and eventually causes extreme pain. The infection causes tiny cuts on the underside of the eyelid and leads to scar tissue as the cuts heal.

The scars pull the eyelid until the eyelashes point inward and scrape the delicate cornea, causing corneal scarring and eventually leading to permanent blindness.

You Can Stop Sight-Stealing Trachoma

Today, your gift will go 4X further to stop blinding trachoma through the World Health Organization-recommended S.A.F.E. strategy:
