Eggs in a Nest

Eggs in a toast

Start your day off right with this easy and delicious recipe! Whether you know them as “Eggs in a Nest”, “Eggies in a Basket” or “Toads in a Hole”, they are a fun breakfast sure to please kids and grown-ups alike.

Ingredients
  • 1 ½ teaspoons butter or margarine 
  • 1 slice of bread 
  • 1 egg 
  • salt and pepper to taste 
Instructions
  1. Butter both sides of the bread. 
  2. Use a juice glass or cookie cutter to cut out the “nest” for your egg.  
    Tip: Get your kids involved! Let them make the cut out with a cookie cutter. Keep the cut-out to toast up and serve. 
  3. Place buttered bread and cut-out in a nonstick pan, cooking on low heat about 2 minutes until lightly toasted. 
  4. Flip the bread and crack egg into the hole. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Continue to cook until egg is cooked to your liking; flip again and cook 1 minute more. 
  6. Serve immediately. Be sure to serve with the cut-out to dip, dunk, or spoon the egg!
